Public transport

You can reach Market Street hotel very easily from the airport,

BY AIRLINK BUS

The bus ride ends at Waverley Bridge, where you will need to get off. The hotel is a very short walk to the left. You can purchase Airlink single and return tickets directly from the Airlink drivers. Buses run 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Departures are every 10 minutes between 04:00 and 01:00 and every 15 to 20 minutes through the night.

The journey from Edinburgh Airport to the City Centre lasts approximately 30 minutes.

BY TRAM

If taking the tram, get off at the stop called “Princes Street” (right beside the Scottish National Gallery). From here make your way to Market Street, which is a 10 minutes’ walk away. You can purchase tram single and return tickets at the kiosk just before the tram stop at the airport, or at the vending machines. Tickets can’t be purchased on board. All single and return tickets must be used to board within 30 minutes of purchase, activation or validation.

Trams run between 5:20AM and 10:45PM. Departures are approximately every 10 minutes.

The journey from Edinburgh Airport to the City Centre lasts approximately 40 minutes.

Parking

We do not have on-site parking. However we work with Edinburgh Waverley Station Car Park, an Apcoa car park, an external car park, located within a short walk to the hotel on New Street, Edinburgh EH1 1BB.

Hotel Residents receive a 20% discount if they present their parking ticket at reception.

Calton Hill

Take a short hike! Calton Hill is a 15 minute walk from our hotel, now established as one of Edinburgh's main hills, set right in the city centre. It is unmistakable with its Athenian acropolis poking above the skyline.

The top of Calton hill is a usually quiet place to visit on any day, with its grassy slopes and panoramic views of the city, including down the length of Princes street and on to Edinburgh Castle. There is also a good view North of the ruddy-coloured cliffs of Salisbury Crags and Edinburgh's highest point, Arthur's Seat.

Six Nations Rugby 2020

BT Murrayfield is the home of Scottish rugby and plays host to some incredible international fixtures throughout the year. Market Street hotel is ideally located, just a 20 minute tram ride from the stadium and steps from Waverley station, get in touch and start planning your rugby weekend in Edinburgh.

The Scotland vs England fixture returns to Edinburgh this February with Scotland in with a chance to retain the Calcutta Cup for a third year after their historic win in 2018 and the nail-biting draw at Twickenham in 2019. The Six Nations is the perfect time to visit Edinburgh, stay for a night or two and take-in the the electric atmosphere of this 'Auld' rivalry.
