We are currently recruiting a Seasonal (part-time) Night Porter to join the Reception and Guest Relations team, offering a personalised service to our guests.
Who we are looking for?
You will be the face of the guest relations night team, welcoming all guest to Market Street hotel ensuring guest expectations are delivered and exceeded at all times. You’ll have impeccable personal presentation standards, be team orientated, and have excellent communication skills as you’ll be working closely with other departments in the hotel.
Role Requirements
- At least one year of experience, preferably in a similar role, working in a 4 or 5 star hotel environment is essential for this position
- Experience using Opera PMS is preferred but not essential
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Must have a valid right to work in the United Kingdom
- Flexibility is a must as you will be required to cover shifts over the weekends and night shifts

Working Hours
This is a seasonal role based on 16 hours per week between May and August 2025.
Hours of work are between 10:45pm and 7am.
SOME OF THE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supporting the night manager/supervisor whilst on duty offering the same level of guest service as during the day
- Act in accordance with all security and emergency procedures and manage the instigation of these, as required
- Be the first point for any guest concerns where you will be empowered to try to resolve them or hand over to the night manager
- Completing regular security and fire walk-round ensuring the safety of the building and our guests
- Providing guest with any late-night drinks and food service
- Preparing early breakfasts to assist the kitchen
- Setting the breakfast area in preparation for the next day
- Cleaning of the public area cleaning which cannot be completed on day shift
- Welcome all guests and assisting with their check-in and check-out experience
- Being a true local hero, providing concierge information about Edinburgh and beyond.
- Be completely knowledgeable of room types, sales types, guest types, VIP codes and room rates
- Ensure that guest documentation and information is available and up-to-date
